TEGAMI (“the Service”) is a letter app that records handwriting with its strokes and their timing, and delivers it to the person you choose at the time you choose. These terms apply between everyone who uses the Service (“you”) and the operator of the Service (“we”; contact: support@tegami.ink).
You need an account to write and send letters. Receiving one needs no account. You are responsible for keeping your registration details accurate and your password to yourself.
Age. If you are under 13, you may not use the Service. If you are 13 or older but under 18, please use it with a guardian’s consent. Because a letter cannot be taken back once sent, we especially ask younger writers to pause before sending.
Within the Service, a letter can be read only by its destination — the person holding the receiving link, or the registered person you addressed it to. We do not read the contents of letters. There are two exceptions: (1) a letter that its recipient has reported to us, and (2) where the law requires disclosure. A review after a report is limited to that one letter, and the fact that we looked is recorded. Letters are not end-to-end encrypted, so they are technically accessible to the database administrator.
A letter cannot be taken back. Once sent, it stays with the person who received it. The sender can hide it from their own history, but cannot remove it from theirs. We show a confirmation screen before sending.
What a recipient can do. If a letter troubles you, you can report it to us from that letter. You can also stop receiving letters from a particular sender. When we receive a report, we review that letter and, where necessary, suspend the sender’s account.
Content that breaks the law or public decency; harassment, threats or discrimination; impersonation; nuisance; sending to someone who has refused to receive; unauthorised access to our systems or placing excessive load on them; and anything else we judge inappropriate. Where these terms are broken, we may stop delivery or suspend the account without notice.
We sell stamp designs (regular stamps as sheets, limited stamps one at a time with a serial number), paper designs (as sets), and a membership renewing monthly or yearly, under which regular stamps are not used up and every paper is available. These are digital items usable only inside the Service. They cannot be exchanged for cash or any other value, and cannot be transferred to another user.
Paid items are sold, and payment is taken, by Stripe as Merchant of Record, acting as our reseller. Your card statement will show “LINK.COM* TEGAMI”. Prices are shown in Japanese yen including consumption tax; buying from outside Japan, your local currency and tax may apply. Within 14 days of purchase, anything you have not yet used is refunded for any reason — the same terms wherever you live, up to twice per customer per year. Duplicate purchases, and purchases that never reach your collection, are refunded at any time and never count towards that limit. When a refund is settled, the items from that purchase return automatically. Any right of refund or cancellation granted to you by the law of your country always takes precedence over these terms, and that limit does not apply to it. See our Refund Policy.
A membership renews each period until you cancel. You may cancel at any time and keep access until the end of the period you have paid for. A regular stamp is used up one per letter sent. A limited stamp is used for one letter, and its serial number is marked on that letter. We may change the contents and prices of the items on sale with prior notice; items already purchased are unaffected.
Rights in the design of the Service, the artwork of the stamps and paper, and the program belong to us or to their rightful owners. Rights in the handwriting you write belong to you. You permit us to store, copy and display your handwriting data to the extent needed to deliver your letters.
The Service is provided as it is. We do not guarantee that it will run without interruption or error, or that a recipient will open a letter. Except in cases of our intent or gross negligence, our liability for damage arising from your use of the Service is limited to the amount you paid us over the preceding 12 months.
We may change these terms or the Service as needed, and may close the Service. We will announce important changes inside the Service or by email to your registered address. If we close the Service, we will give reasonable notice.
These terms are governed by the law of Japan. The Tokyo District Court has exclusive jurisdiction of the first instance over disputes concerning the Service.
